The 1st shot8 shows the John Penn Street loop (i.e a turning spot?) where John Penn Street meets Lewisham Road. The 2nd is further up Lewisham Road (called the orchard Hill loop). You can just make out the warehouse building on the top end of John Penn Street (ie in the previous shot). You can also see the "M&D Biscuit" advertising hoarding in both shots. The 2nd shot is interesting because it is so completely different to what is there today. In fact nothing in the 2nd shot is there today. I'd be interested to find out the modern day history.
Hope this small bit info about the area in the pictures helps a tad. (1st pic), to the left of the van is now a large block of flats, my grandmother who lived in Deptford, Albury st, was moved there around the mid 70's after a fire swept through their terrace. (2nd pic) The block of flats took the place of the terrace of 6 with the white flank end with window. opposite the block was a fish and chip shop the taste of which would make a french chef smile ! everything fried in dripping!! the saveloy's were great as was the rock, mmmm. The last time i was in this area the frontage of the warehouse on John Penn st was still there? regards John.
